Mother & Childcare

Mother and Childcare, with Ayurveda is a book written for both future parents and therapists who want to guide couples in the process of preparing for a pregnancy, the pregnancy itself and the care for mother and child during and after childbirth.

In the last year of my Ayurveda study I had to write a thesis. I chose the subject "mother and child care". Through the years I became more and more aware of the fact that the way in which we in the West deal with pregnancy and children's wishes is experienced in a different way than is described in the old classical texts. In the West, for example, it is not common to find a balance in our own health before we try to become pregnant. Ayurveda writes that getting pregnant should be an extensive process full of tips and advice to prepare for this as well as possible. And all this to ensure that we do not "just" become pregnant, but that with all our being we make maximum use of everything in order to give birth to a child that is as happy and healthy as possible with a maximum possible life span.
